Warka, a Polish Brewing Tradition reviewed by Brandon C. Hovey

Beer Style: Pale Lager

Country of Origin: Poland

Brewery: Warka (Zywiec Group)

Beer: Warka

Abv: 5.5%

Background: In my travels I stumbled into some Polish beer. I quickly bought it.

Taste & Aroma: I smell a pleasant velvety malt at first. With a little bit of a skunky flavor aroma too that is unfortunately common among European pale lagers. The taste on the other hand is brilliant! You are first hit with a clean opening, then a malt jab is delivered, and a mild hop finish is there. The hops add just a hint of a dry bite to the beer. A light bite; only slight to my palette. This is a beer that should get some mileage over the summer.

Final Analysis: Warka is a good example of this beer style. I cannot say I enjoyed it to the point of where I’d buy a sizable amount, but it is delicious still.
