Country of Origin: United States of America (Galesburg,IL)
Background: Earlier I reviewed another of this fabulous brewery’s beers: Light Rail. This is the next on the list. Again, I have had this beer on draught before and I really liked it. I’m eager to have it again, but this time in the can.
Taste & Aroma: A piney floral aroma that is subtle is present initially. This is the kind of beer I love to smell long before I take the first sip. Much like a good scotch, a good IPA is like this. The aroma is a diamond here. This IPA has a malty opening and a clean middle, and a sharp ending thanks to some well-timed hops. As the beer warms the flavor improves even further with the hops becoming deeper and brighter. The crisp hops become the prominent flavor and the malt becomes more subdued. Again, this beer gets better as it warms slightly.
Final Analysis: This is a solid IPA with bold full flavors and an excellent aroma. Iron Spike Brewing Company has demonstrated their prowess for their product with this most excellent brew. The Iron Spike Brewing Company has done well here. I’m eager to return to their brewery now.
