Background: In 1980, Sierra Nevada Brewing helped pioneer the craft beer scene. They began as a humble microbrewery, now they are one of the bastions of the craft beer idea and could be considered one of the big pioneers of craft brewing. Their pale ale is their flagship beer. If you’ve never had it you are missing out. This was a beer that helped craft beer become more than pipe dream. This is the beer that was served at my wedding. I’m going to have one of these on my anniversary too coming up in six days. This is the first beer I had once I was well enough to on a sickbed after battling a horrific illness. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a drink that I hold dear.
Taste & Aroma: A malty, grainy smell greets your nostrils and awakens your palette as you lift the glass from the coaster to your nose and mouth. A malt backbone, and herbal, grassy hop finish with a small tart bite are all that is here. This is complex, yet simple. Balanced, yet bold, approachable, but refined, and it is focused on taste and aroma. This is truly one of my go-to beers obviously.
Final Analysis: Sierra Nevada Pale is a never failing, ever refreshing, delightful beer. Perfect from the bottle or can and perfect from the tap. Try Sierra Nevada’s other beers: here and here.
