Beer: Goose Island Oktoberfest
Beer Style: Marzen
Brewery: Goose Island Beer Company (Anheuser Busch InBev)
Country of Origin: United States of America
Serving Methodology: 12 oz bottle poured into pint glass
ABV: 6.40%
Background: It is Oktoberfest, and this is a grand beer to enjoy during this time. This possibly is the second best American Oktoberfest I have had this year. For the first, see Sierra Nevada’s Oktoberfest.
Taste & Aroma: This beer smells like a fall day. Leaves on the ground, bonfires, and a smoky woody feel are generated by this malty beverage. The flavor is complex and is one of the best I’ve seen in American Oktoberfest Lagers. I’m tasting apples, apricots, and toffee malt at the end. The mouthfeel is sharp and clear. That’s what I like in a lager. My wife enjoyed this too.
Final Analysis: This is a solid Oktoberfest Lager. This is the second best American Oktoberfest beer I’ve had. Again, try Sierra Nevada’s and this one if you must try an American Oktoberfest beer before German ones. The next reviews shall be of German ones.
