Serving Methodology: 12 oz can poured into dimpled pint
Country of Origin: United States of America (Bourbonnais, IL)
Background: Many high school classmates and a few friends attended Olivet Nazarene University located in Bourbonnais, IL. South of Chicago located on I-57; Bourbonnais also has a claim to fame as a Chicago Bears Summer Training Facility. I learned that when I saw their water tower.
Bourbonnais is also home to the Brickstone Brewery. A delightful example of a microbrewery growing strong by widening its distribution. They’re now in Peoria, IL. My neck of the woods. Brilliant! I had the priveledge of eating at their brewpub in Bourbonnais, and the memory of their excellent beers stayed with me. When I spied Forbidden Wheat at my Peoria HyVee, I had to pick it up.
Taste & Aroma: Coriander! Lemon Peel! An inviting aroma is present that is not uncommon for this style, a Belgian White! The flavor is a malty start that is sharp in its bite. The yeast finish is pleasant and fluffy. This reminds me of some Belgian Whites from Belgium that I have had. This is a complex beer in flavor and in aroma.
Final Analysis: Great beer from an excellent brewery. I’m going to be having more beers from Brickstone soon.
