Background: A name like snake oil reminds me of my ‘salesman‘ days. I liked the name and it spurned my curiosity. Also, I know 4 Hands Brewing Company makes a fine beer. So I was going to win in this HyVee Mix a Six Lotto.

Taste & Aroma: My nose is being entertained by a hundred imaginary piney pots of incense coming from this glorious ale. I can smell mountains of earth, minerals, and autumn leaves. This is how a great IPA should smell, dear readers. The flavor is one of warming pine, herbs, and delicious malt. There’s no real hoppy bite at the end that is common to IPAs. This may be an incredible introduction to high gravity craft for macro beer drinkers.  Not that macro beer is ever a poor choice. There are occasions for it!

Final Analysis: Well done, Four Hands Brewing! This is a superb beer that is an accessible IPA. Smooth as Snake Oil.
