Beer: Guinness Antwerpen Stout
Beer Style: Export Stout
Abv: 8.00%
Country of Origin: Ireland
Serving Methodology: 11.2 oz bottle poured into champagne flute
Brewery: Guinness (Diageo)
Background: This is another one of Guinness’s new but yet classic creations re-released and reimagined from their brewer’s project. I reviewed several of those beers, including their excellent West Indies Porter. This stout has been brewed since 1944 and has been exclusively exported to Belgium until now. And you should be glad that Guinness has been kind to share this with us.
Taste & Aroma: Chocolate, raisins, and a hint of French roast coffee are wafting to my nostril. So far, so good! Let’s check out the flavor. This is a syrupy blend of caramel, cocoa, molasses, coffee, and roasted malt at the finish with a bit of a spiced bite at the finish! This is a delicious beer.
Final Analysis: I don’t typically like export stouts, but this is good. Take a try for yourself and see if it is a good stout for you.
