Artist: Mike Doughty
Composer: Mike Doughty
Album: The Question Jar Show

Mike Doughty is by far one of my favorite singer-songwriters. He is likely the most underrated artist in the 21st century. He’s known as the guy from Soul Coughing wearing the red sweater in the circles vid from the late 1990s, but he’s more than that. This guy could score a spy movie. And his lyrical poetry is always magnetic.
“All of the waves crash upon the shore, fruitlessly shushing the world… my flag of doubt is unfurled.”
“I loved you for each hair upon the back of your neck…”
This is a haunting ballad with evocative lyrics that has you wondering what the significance of the sugar factory is. Nothing wrong with a little mystery.
