Background: I have had a few Anchor beers on this blog. I can tell you that although it isn’t a go-to brewery for me I do enjoy their product. Let’s talk about this Liberty IPA. It is a brand new beer from Anchor and it is a great example of how and what an IPA can be and should be.
Taste & Aroma: Grapefruit, pineapple, and a whiff of fresh cut grass hit my nose as I put the glass up to my nostrils. Now for the taste. As the beer hits my tongue I’m carried away by a sharp mouthfeel followed by citrus fruits including orange and grapefruit and some deep woody notes that deliver a sharp, lingering bite. While the beer warms I can pick up some more tropical notes like pineapple, more pronounced grapefruit, and orange, and a hint of raisin. The best part of this beer is the lingering hop finish.
Final Analysis: This is a dynamite beer with a pleasant aroma and a complex flavor. I’m glad I took a chance and committed to a six pack.
