Beer: Abbey
Beer Style: Dubbel
Brewery: New Belgium
Abv: 7.0%
Serving Method: Bottle poured into pint glass
Country of Origin: United States of America
Background: When it comes to Belgian beer or Belgian style beer I am oftentimes not a fan of the Dubbel. I prefer the stronger and more refreshing Trippel. This generally is not respective of the beer’s origin. It doesn’t have to be Trappist to be good. New Belgium and Ommegang make some of the best Belgian style beers although they are not in Belgium.
Taste & Aroma: Raisins, dates, prunes, and a hint of cherry are in the nose of this beer. A bready, tart, raisiny beer is what you are drinking. The finish is sweet and lingering.
Final Analysis: This is another excellent offering from New Belgium. I’d love to try all of their beers on draught now.
