Album: Hemingway’s Whiskey (2010)

Composers: Brett James and Kenneth Chesney

Artist: Kenny Chesney

Someone asked a coworker of mine why am I so happy. The truth is if they had seen me over last weekend they would have seen me when I’m down. Someone very close to me almost died from a bilateral pulmonary embolism. I won’t name names due to this person being secretive by nature. But, I will say I discovered this song by Kenny Chesney this weekend—it explained my feelings about the weekend so well.

“Sometimes life ain’t what it is cracked up to be…”

“Let the music take us away…”

“For me its a beach bar, or a boat underneath the stars…”

“For some its a fast car…”

“Everyone has their way to escape….reality”

As I was dealing with this family crisis I had to remind myself that there are always challenges and crises within this life. Yeah, things can be a bitch and a bummer. But, without these bad times we would not appreciate the gift and blessing that is life. Break free and know that they’ll be bad times, but also know that these bad times pass. The peaks and valleys come and go. Change is the only constant.
